When this type of damage occurs, you will see small little holes throughout the rug, or you may be missing pieces of the fabric. Rot and mold are two other types of functional damage. Rugs that are exposed to cigarette smoke or have been water damaged may experience texture issues and this would require functional restoration as well. • Visual Restoration: Restoration services that are considered visual include restorations that make the piece look more appealing or valuable. Often, rugs become discolored or experience fading issues due to the rug being improperly cleaned or due to sun exposure. The most difficult color restorations to perform are when the rug is discolored due to mold, coffee, wine, and burns on the rug itself. It is important that you tell us EXACTLY how the discoloration occurred so that we can address the problem. Visual restoration takes an experienced professional to avoid serious damage to the rug.
